As an herbalist, educator, and recipe developer, she focuses on topics such as handmade food and drinks, wildcrafting and gardening, and connecting to the natural world.
She is the Communications Director for LearningHerbs.com and the author of Wild Drinks & Cocktails: Handcrafted Squashes, Shrubs, Switchels, Tonics, and Infusions to Mix at Home.
Emily is also the founder of the LA Food Swap and co-founder of the international Food Swap Network.
In addition to courses and apprenticeships in herbalism and cocktail crafting, she studied art history at Hampshire College, library and information science at San JoséState University, and food preservation at University of California Cooperative Extension.
Emily lives in Los Angeles with her two cats and her husband Gregory, with whom she spends every opportunity exploring the mountains, canyons, beaches, and deserts of Southern California.
